I am a senior leader with extensive experience in UX strategy, design, and research, who applies user-centered methodologies to achieve best-in-class products and services. I value growth mindsets, creative thinking, and a collaborative culture.
I am curious and enjoy learning new things. The more complex, the better! I am good at understanding the problem, identifying the ultimate goal, discovering the users’ needs and context of use -- and then simplifying the complex!
I lead teams through engaging exercises that result in better communication and the generation of new ideas, insights and strategies. This creates an environment for creative thinking and innovation, so we can make great things!
Innovation is at the intersection of business, technology and design. Understanding the goals and constraints of each and being familiar with the tools in the UX toolbox, I strategically determine the best ways to spend time and energy to maximize UX results. Because we all know, no project has unlimited time and budget.
I am friendly, approachable and patient. I have a deep understanding of my craft. I coach and guide and discuss ideas. I respect others. Leading and mentoring other designers is mutually beneficial, as I continuously grow and learn myself!
I am wired for collaboration. With over 20 years working on software teams, I have become an effective communicator and translator between users, clients, creatives and techies.

I have had the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge for User Experience & Design with others in my field and in the healthcare IT industry.

I value positions that allow me to make the world a better place! Let me share how I found meaning in prior positions.
As a consultant for health IT companies, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many clients across the healthcare industry to improve their systems for their end users. The healthcare industry is so complex; improving patient experience is critical for two key reasons. First, when people really begin to learn about healthcare, how it works and its different idiosyncrasies, they are often in the worst state of mind to really understand and traverse its complexity. Second, the healthcare industry is so fractured that it makes learning and engaging with the patient, not only a fractured event, but a difficult one. Even when working on systems that are not patient-facing, there is probably, at most, 2 degrees of separation from a patient that will ultimately be impacted by the solution I designed.

I worked on a variety of software applications for many CDC clients. I found that most people who work in public health do so because they want to help people. They use science and research to understand and solve problems to positively impact the health of populations. You can see there is much alignment between the work I did as a User Experience Team Lead and the Public Health Professionals I worked with at the CDC.
My time at Roundbox Global allowed me to combine my passions for educational technology with improving user experience. My primary project was designing an interactive text book for 5 - 9 year olds. My design had to be simple to use and navigate through, allow clarity and focus on the educational content and apply gamification techniques to make it engaging.
